Dr. Arslan Dar completed his Ph.D. in June 2024, presenting research that deepens the understanding of how complex terrain shapes the behavior and performance of wind turbine wakes.
Titled “Towards an Improved Understanding of Wind Turbine Wakes in Complex Terrain,” Dr. Dar’s Ph.D. work systematically explored how topography affects wind turbine wakes and power output using state-of-the-art wind tunnel experiments. The high-resolution experimental data he produced provided a foundation for developing and validating analytical models capable of predicting wind turbine wakes in complex terrain conditions. His work offers valuable insight into terrain-induced wake behavior and contributes to the development of more reliable tools for wind energy applications in non-flat environments.
