Data Management Campus: modules & learning resources for researchers

Explore comprehensive self-paced modules and learning resources to build your skills in Research Data Management and Open Research Data.

The ETH Domain proudly introduces the Data Management Campus, a new learning offer designed to support researchers across all institutions – including the EPFL – in developing practical skills in Research Data Management (RDM) and Open Research Data (ORD).

Developed collaboratively by teams from Empa, Eawag, EPFL, ETH Zurich, PSI, and WSL as part of the Open Research Data Programme, this initiative brings together expertise from across the Domain to provide a shared, high-quality training resource.

The Campus features ten self-paced, 30-minute e-learning modules covering essential topics such as data organization, documentation, storage, sensitive data handling, long-term preservation, and code management. No registration is required to access the modules – only to track your learning progress if you wish to do so.

Access all modules and related material via the ORD Portal: https://open-research-data-portal.ch/training

All module content is also available as Open Educational Resources (OER) through the dedicated ETH Domain Open Educational Resources for Research Data Management, enabling reuse and adaptation for teaching, training, and research support across the ETH Domain.

Drop-In Q&A Sessions

To help researchers apply what they learn, three informal online Q&A drop-in sessions will take place in January 2026. Open to all members of the ETH Domain, these sessions provide an opportunity to discuss practical challenges directly with RDM and ORD experts.
