Neuro X researchers from TNE made the June cover of Nature Reviews Bioengineering
Solaiman Shokur and Silvestro Micera from TNE, together with colleagues from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and the University of Michigan, reviewed the current state of the art in restoring hand function in paralyzed patients. Starting from the possibilites to decode cortical motor intentions as well as residual body movements, the review covers how invasive or non-invasive electrical stimulation of neural or muscular structures can restore hand functions, as well as future steps required for clinical translation of these devices.
This Review was partly funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation through the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Robotics, the CHRONOS project, the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering and the Bertarelli Foundation.
